Croatia, officially the Republic of Croatia, is a country in south-central Europe and the Mediterranean region. It is bounded to the northwest by Slovenia and Hungary, to the east by Serbia, to the southeast by Bosnia and Herzegovina, and to the west and southwest by Italy. Zagreb is the country's capital and largest city.
Croatia is currently in desperate need of workers. Many industries, such as construction and tourism, simply do not have enough workers. As a result, Croatian businesses are looking for foreign workers to fill these positions.
Applicants intending to work in Croatia will require a work permit as well as a residency permit.
Applicants from outside the EU must obtain a work permit from their nearest Republic of Croatia diplomatic mission.
Most work and residence permits in Croatia are valid for a minimum of 12 months or two years.
If applicants need to continue working in Croatia, they can extend their work permit at least 60 days before it expires.
At each extension, the work permit can be extended for another two years. After 5 years of residing and working in Croatia, the applicant is eligible for Permanent Residency in Croatia and, after 6 years, can apply for citizenship, subject to eligibility.
An EU Blue Card is a residence permit that allows qualified non-EU foreign nationals to work in Europe. Croatia is also part of the EU Blue Card network, which can assist third-country nationals.
