Candidates for the Express Entry and PNP will now be able to monitor their applications and stay up to date on any changes to their profiles.
Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced the addition of four new categories to their online application status trackers. Clients will be able to monitor their application and stay up to date on any updates regarding actions that may be required to keep their file moving with the help of these status trackers.
The new trackers are for Express Entry candidates in the Federal Skilled Workers Program (FSWP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP). Candidates in Provincial Nominee Programs will also be affected (PNPs).
Express Entry and the Provincial Nominee Program are two of the most well-known economic immigration routes for newcomers. This year, Canada expects to welcome nearly 190,000 immigrants through the two pathways combined. This figure is expected to rise to more than 230,000 by 2025.
According to the most recent IRCC data, there were 47,868 applicants for Express Entry programmes and 66,214 for PNPs waiting in the queue as of January 31.
Status trackers are intended to increase transparency by giving clients faster access to information than if they contacted IRCC through another channel.
The new online status trackers are part of IRCC's ongoing efforts to reduce wait times and improve access to information. According to the department, this is part of the ministry's commitment to greater transparency, and application status tracking will be available for more types of applications in the coming months.
This is the most recent event in IRCC's digitisation strategy, and it will make it easier for applicants to access their information. IRCC created status trackers exactly one year ago to make it easier for family class permanent residence applicants, sponsors, and their representatives to check their application status online.
IRCC announced in September that it would begin the transition to 100% digital applications for the majority of permanent residence programmes. Between September and October 2022, the department will accept online applications for:
This is in addition to other economic immigration programmes, such as those for temporary resident permit holders seeking permanent residence, the Atlantic Immigration Program, and several Quebec immigration programmes, among others.
The IRCC has already made much of the citizenship application process digital. Permanent residents over the age of 18 can now apply for citizenship online, whether they are applying as a couple or as an adult family.
Minors under the age of 18 must still apply on paper, and if a family applies with children under the age of 18, the entire family must apply on paper.
