Ontario, British Columbia, and Prince Edward Island have invited candidates for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), which aims to increase control over the selection of economic immigrants. PNP nominations are based on Immigration Levels Plan targets, and provinces are seeking more autonomy over economic immigration. Quebec has total authority over the selection of economic immigrants, and the Forum of Ministers Responsible for Immigration ratified a Provincial Immigration Levels Plan in March. This will enable provinces to plan for more newcomers and ensure adequate jobs, housing, and infrastructure to support newcomers and make them an attractive destination.
Ontario
Ontario held two draws on July 20 for Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream candidates in targeted occupations. The province invited 902 tech occupation candidates and 159 healthcare professionals, with CRS scores ranging from 458-462. 2,000 healthcare professionals and 500 STEM candidates received ITAs in federal Express Entry draws.
British Columbia
British Columbia held its Tuesday PNP draw on July 18, inviting over 167 candidates in four draws. The largest draw targeted 112 tech-related candidates with a minimum Skills Immigration Registration System score of 88. The province also invited 39 early childhood educators, 16 healthcare professionals, and five other priority occupation candidates.
Prince Edward Island
PEI invited 106 candidates in the first PEI PNP draw on July 20, split into Labour and Express Entry streams. 97 were Critical Worker Stream employees with a minimum EOI score of 50, and nine were Business Work Permit Entrepreneurs.
